dyw exchange fic
Written 7/12/07. 200 words.
Bandslash - Brendon/Spencer, though I only got as far as pre-slash. There was a fic exchange at
damnyouwentz in summer 2007 that this was supposed to be for, but I wound up having to pull out of the exchange and never finishing the fic.
It’s not a big deal, really, just a subtle shift. Maybe Brendon starts paying a little more attention to Spencer than he does to Ryan and Jon; maybe Spencer’s a little more willing to let Brendon invade his personal space than before. So, yeah, they’re a thing, but there are no grand declarations or flowery sentiments, though Brendon’s threatened once or twice, when he thought it would be fun to make Spencer incredibly nauseous.
Spencer doesn’t really know how it happened, but it doesn’t matter, because it’s good. Brendon’s good. They don’t make a big deal about it, just gravitate toward each other a little more, silently agreeing not to tell Ryan and Jon. Not yet, not while it’s still so new.
So things go on as usual for a while. They tour, sold-out shows still a thrill (will they ever not be?) and maybe Brendon spends a little more time turning around to glance at Spencer as he drums, but no one really notices.
Most days, Spencer still can’t believe that this is his life, this is what passes for usual now. It doesn’t make any sense, but at the same time, anything else would just be ridiculous.
